“…of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”. “As a man thinks, so is he.”
These are two profound statements while growing up that I used to think were stupid. I’ve always been a curious cat. I will never swallow anything hook, line and sinker because I prompt myself towards critical thinking. Back in school, many thought I was a student of philosophy when I was a student of the science of politics. I particularly loved the subject of Metaphysics.
So, How dumb was I? By many members of my family, I wasn’t the brightest. Almost very easily, you’ll catch my hands deep in silly and illogical behaviour. Don’t doubt me, my family members are some of the brightest people in the world. From Ivy League to award-winning academia and individuals that possess creative and intuitive dexterity that make them a mystery even to me, I’ve always had to answer hard questions.
What has changed? Nothing. Does this mean I’m still dumb? No! It’s my penchant for curiosity that hasn’t. Now, I can tell you for free that the truism in the statements quoted above has made life very very easy for me. I can hear things people aren’t saying and I can think through things by simply changing my thinking.
What happened to me? Plato’s Theory of Forms – “Nothing exists that doesn’t already exist”. When people don’t agree with me about the importance and value of a logo, it means their idea already existed before they disagreed. And for those that agree, same. However, “all men come to you, to whom solution beckons”. But as far as business is concerned, employing the thinking of a philosopher; not all men are tall or short, white, black or brown. Where precision must be achieved, criteria must be set.
As Nigeria’s foremost logo design company, we have noticed that some inquiries do not lead to productive outcomes, wasting about a quarter of our man-hours. To solve this, we have created a sifting system to identify and prioritize inquiries that are most likely to lead to successful and satisfying collaborations for both our team and our ideal clients.
