Months back, I expressed my heartfelt congrats over the achievements of one of our clients. What I didn’t say was how she became our client. The interesting short story of how it happened will be the beginning of a series you don’t want to miss. However, I’ll give an appetizer.
Back in 2016, one day on Facebook, I was insulted by a number of people for expressing my expert opinion backed by proof on a “Logo Reveal” posted by someone.
What was my opinion all about? Plain simple; a significant and major theme of the logo the person revealed as part of launching their business infringed on the Intellectual Property of the #logo of a globally renowned hospitality brand – The Marriott Hotel.
Oh! Yes, these quack boys do this a lot. They’re bereft of the ethics and every professional moral compass that is guided by principles of the practice of logo design. Is it so much of their fault? I’ll say not really. They get patronized don’t they?
Anyway, to continue my story… My expert opinion, according to someone’s comment was described as ITK (I too know). Another described it with unprintable expressions of sarcasm.
Maybe the way I presented it, you might say. To allay this possible thought on your part, I presented it this simply; “I think you should do a review of your logo with your graphics designer. It is the replication of a known global brand”.
Of course my bio sells me out as a player in the game. Hence many considered me a player that wants to run other players down. No wonder Chimmanda had to post her epic write up about people on social media.
In the midst of the backlash, I was discovered by an Achiever.
