
What’s the matter you’d ask?
The logo on the branded bag used to deliver my sister’s beautiful canvass from the retailer incorporated the Apple News logo into its own. Is this the first time I’ve seen something like this? Matter of fact, this mess happens everyday.
In 2016, the popular Nigerian music duo BRACKET, staged a Foundation. Unknown to them they launched with the logo of Save-The-Children. Alongside a journalist and PR agency I had to do something to bring it to their attention. We wrote, published and it got their attention. They acted fast to change the logo.
You’re almost certain to fall into the hands of this fast growing generation of graphics designers who have no respect for creative work mixed with their gross indiscipline and disregard for ethics and prerequisite apprenticeship. A few aren’t like this though.
So who’s to take responsibility for this kind of infringement? Know this for a fact, there’s no excuse for ignorance under the law. You just blow and see. Or you don’t want to blow? Twitter’s legal experience when they used their very first logo is an example. Also to be caught in such a net rubs mediocrity on the business and it’s embarrassing
