They’re many beautiful places in the world but most of them are man-made. #Seychelles is made by nature.
One day in 2016 as I sat watching TV and flipping through channels, I caught a glimpse of something interesting. It was Travelogue, the destinations program of Chinese News Channel – CGTN that was showing. I love travel, so I glued in to watch.
“The wonderful Island Country”, the narrator quipped…And it was on the stroke of the moment I was just about bowing to nature’s wonders presented about this beautiful country that the narrator hit me again like a double whamming. “It’s in Africa”.
Africa? My eyes enlarged; I sat up, it was unbelievable. The narrator expressed how it is such a choice destination for the Chinese. Immediately after the program ended, I turned to my laptop and zoomed into research. It was enthralling.
Months after, my wife asked me what I’d do on her Birthday? With lightning fast response, “take you to Seychelles”. What? Where’s that? And that’s how the story of making it our go-to destination began.
In my work as a logo specialist and corporate identity consultant, I realized that many people who want to engage my services don’t know or even bother to know enough about me. They box me into the general idea they have of graphics designers. An idea similar to the stereotyped way many think about Africa, only to miss out on enjoying its wonders.
In the words of a man that had significant impact in my life during my early twenties, he said: “Know something about everything and everything about something”. Do not box yourself into stereotypes.
