“That’s why we JFK, join forces with the kings and we ate all day” – Rick Ross. According to Rick Ross, American Rapper and Multi-platinum selling hit maker; by “ate all day”, he meant unlimited success. So how do you JFK?
One cold evening I was on an errand to the house of Mr. V. It’s a house tucked deep in the elite part of Apapa. And so here I was in front of a man from one of the wealthiest families in Nigeria. The father of Mr. V. who my dad had worked in his Architecture company back in the 80s asked Mr. V. to learn a thing or two from him. This was how they became friends.
The 8 or 9 year old son of Mr. V was with him as I greeted in Yoruba style, though he isn’t Yoruba. And soon after his response to my greeting, he chastised his son for not greeting me. I was 15. However, that he did so was not really what moved me, rather it was because he drove home the point to his son, that I am the son of his Oga (Boss) and so should respect me.
What’s the real worth of my father? I asked myself as I left. We are very comfortable no doubt. For instance Sunday’s were for buffet with friends and family – all you can eat and drink. But more than just the comfort, my father was exceptionally diligent.
This experience with Mr. V. was the very first formative awareness my consciousness could process about wealthy people. Wealthy people are attracted to diligent people with intellect and talent. They keep them close. Wealthy people climbed a ladder from ground up, and someone or a group of people of sound mind held it for them as they climbed.
To attract diligent people; first and foremost be willing to listen to them. It’s your first sure clue. Did you know that it is written; “see a man diligent in his works he’d not stand before ordinary men but before kings and princes?” Diligent people are for kings and princes and not for ordinary men.
I urge you to wear the mind of a King or Prince. That’s how you begin to draw diligent people to yourself. And soon you’d join forces with the kings.
