The Chairman of Center for Institutions Reform in Nigeria, CIRN, Mr. Lai Omotola painted the metropolis of Maryland, Lagos, green on Saturday, June 12, with the official unveiling of the much-talked about Pro-Nigeria Group (PNG). PNG is a platform he set up with a view to preaching the gospel of unity and oneness in Nigeria despite the attempts by secessionist groups threatening the existence of Nigeria. The Politico
The epoch-making event attracted several pundits and dignitaries from all walks of life who witnessed the unveiling of the Pro-Nigeria Brand Logo. According to the Chief Design Officer of Dayo Abiola – Nigeria’s foremost logo design company, the agency responsible for the Pro-Nigeria Group Brand Logo, he described Mr. Lai as a visionary with a unique passion for Nigeria and a new Nigeria narrative.
The brand logo is essentially a typeface that was selected because of its unique style and custom license. A typeface from the type foundry of Miles Newlyn – Friend and Expatriate Design Associate to Dayo Abiola and globally acclaimed logo and typography specialist responsible for the design of the logos of some of the world’s global brands, presented the best expression for the ideals that Pro-Nigeria Group stands for.

We wanted a bold and weighty typeface that was also soft at the same time – as a way to depict that the group is not an aggressor group. The style of the typeface represents ‘modern’ and ‘forward looking’ because of its slight tilt. Taking it a notch higher, we deliberately etched the map of Nigeria into the letter A because it is the first letter in the alphabets – as a way to represent a ‘Nigeria First’ consciousness that every citizen and patriot must imbibe.
During the unveiling of PNG, Mr. Omotola said that he decided to form the group in order to preach the gospel of unity to all ethnic groups in Nigeria, telling them they may have genuine agitations, but with the spirit of oneness, things can surely work out. Speaking further, Mr. Omotola stated that those who are agitating for the break up of the country are doing so because they are angry with the system. According to him, to make things work in this country, both the leaders and the people of Nigeria must adopt a new approach to issues.
Buttressing his point, he said ”We can’t fight the same way our forefathers fought, David defeated Goliath with an ordinary stone, he would have failed if he had used the sophisticated weapons they used back then.
Advising the agitators Mr. Omotola said: “You can’t threaten a General in the military with war because he has experienced many fights”. He also advised the President to stop threatening people (agitators) that are already angry, stating that they are in all geo-political zones of the country talking extremely. There is a gap between the people and the leaders; noting that the only remedy is the breach builders; the role in which he said a group like PNG has come to play. “Everything you have to do or say must bring peace to party A and B. Anyone singing the song of anti-Nigeria is angry.
“We shall engage the government and the people according to the workings of the constitution and rule of law,” Mr. Omotola added. Speaking on the strategies on how to carry out his lofty mission, Mr. Omotola said that PNG would be engaging eminent personalities and Nigerian leaders that have benefited from the country in one way or the other. He also added that PNG would be organizing debate and essay competitions among students of secondary schools on the unity of Nigeria. Also, PNG will be having a conference on October 1, 2021, Nigeria’s independence day.

In the final remarks of the Chief Design Officer Of Dayo Abiola, he expressed his excitement to be the trusted design agency of the brand logo for such a lofty and noteworthy project undertaken by the Pro-Nigeria Group under the leadership of Mr. Lai Omotola.
