Bracket Foundation launched by the music duo of Nwanchukwu Ozioko popularly known as Vast and Obumneme Ali also known as Smash of the group – ‘Bracket’ have erroneously used the exact logo of Save The Children Foundation, the world’s leading independent organisation for children; with operations in over 120 countries, saving children’s lives, fighting for their rights and helping them fulfil their potential.
Upon sighting this monumental mistake and reaching for the opinion of foremost logo maker and crooner of the quote “a logo is a symbol of success”, Mr. Dayo Abiola said – “this is the kind of mess you get into when you disregard seeking professional assistance to make a logo. Making a logo is not child’s play. It is not for quack designers and it’s not business as usual. This is the kind of mistake that can very easily find you in court”. Speaking further he said, “my advocacy has been of impacting and changing the course of thinking in the ‘logosphere’ environment in Nigeria and Africa. Such as this, is the reason we aren’t building real brands wherein the real change lies. It is more disappointing to see that a good number of reputable organizations that provided support to Bracket Foundation, didn’t even check or notice the error”.
It is a clear case of pooling a logo from the internet – a most veritable behaviour of many SME business owners. Today’s Big brands right from their humble beginnings, albeit having a clear vision of becoming big, never make this kind of error. Reaching for professional help is always their first duty. After all one of the reasons for making a logo is to have a ‘unique’ business identification. We urge the management of Bracket Foundation to wade quickly into this to save the face and brand image for their lofty initiative to help and save people suffering from cancer.
