Created for an Australian agency of professional writers, the WordService logo is inspired by the typographic symbol for a new paragraph (¶). We adapted this familiar symbol because the paragraph represents something fundamental to written communication: a self contained unit of discourse organised around a particular point or idea.
A paragraph is more than a collection of words. Each word contributes to a larger thought, building meaning, clarity and coherence. Paragraph follows paragraph, allowing individual ideas to connect and ultimately form a complete narrative. In this sense, the paragraph is one of the essential structures through which written communication achieves its purpose. It is inevitable wherever ideas must be expressed with clarity and intent.
That idea became the foundation of the identity. By transforming the new paragraph symbol into a distinctive corporate mark, we created a visual metaphor for the indispensable role of words in communicating ideas. The logo essentially declares: “I am inevitable.” Not as an assertion of dominance, but as a statement of relevance. Written communication is indispensable to every organisation that must articulate its ideas, influence its audience, establish its position and communicate what matters.
This is what WordService represents. The words that make the message possible.
